Hormone birdfeed
i tried to look up what a starling was and out popped
a wikipedia article for Ernest Henry Starling who was the endo-
chronologist who coined the term hormone always sounded dirty to me
i sure hope she does we all deserve to moan
just as much as we deserve water shelter warmth
and sweet things like condensed milk how
do they condense it is there some sort of hydraulic
press that they push on the milk until it's sweeter
any ways the starling is a passerine bird which is a category
that includes more than half of the types of birds
known today i hope there are more unknown and they never
make themselves known they simply moan and roam around
like epicurious Epicurus with his bros and his cheese
i am getting too grounded in the trails and i'm trying
to write about this type of bird or rather the taxonomic order
of Passeriformes sometimes called perching
birds
for they kind of hang with their toes anisodactyl
three forward
one back and here i am
feeling all the way back two left feet three new forehead pimples
wishing i can absolve myself from today
and go back to undergrad
since i really feel i would do better this time
would make friends with the folks who stay
writers don't stay or they stick around just to record
you eating shit from your
perch onto the asphalt
i treat coming as a form of divination and when i can't
finish i know the worst is coming and part of why i can't get on E
just yet is because i'm worried it will affect my Sexual Ability
as if that's the biggest
longest
strongest
branchicould
hangmyself
on
jkjkjkjkjkjkjjkjk
jkjkjkjkjkjkjkj
kjkjkjkjkjkjkjkhjkjkjkjkjkjkjkjkjk
no death just yet as that's not the point this poem is about
birds
how the term is derived from the latin word for sparrow
and i just googled beautiful sparrow facts since everything
in a poem should be beautiful and craftymomsshare.com says
the males have bibs and both sexes take turns
dominating depending on the season craftymomsshare.com also
says they are monogamous (bless the tradwives) but how
did the moms figure out if the sparrows are truly in love.
one scene that makes me weep in theaters is that part of blue velvet
where Laura Dern talks about the robins coming in her dream
when i saw that scene in theaters Nat said she could hear me cry
i couldn't help myself it's just so earnest and free
where is my dream? Laura Dern says and it cuts to a taxi
which some think means the rest of the movie is her dream
perched so eloquently on the branch the robin eats the beetle
and everything is light. It always is and maybe this poem is my dream
and the reality actually ended a few lines back where i hung
myself
or maybe i can just go back to sleep and wait for the songs of dawn
and cringe while smiling as i write the words songs of dawn before getting up
to feed the cat and make coffee for me and Ernest Henry
bet you thought you've seen the last of him but nope
he deserves a cup for making an important thing
like hormones sound so silly like how my acting professor
said the person who invented the term cis
knew what they were doing in making it sound like sissy which
they all are and i love them for it not the cis but the words and the birds
bees and the new genders that keep coming out every other day and i create
a thousand more for every time you complain you sissy i love you tweet tweet.
